In memoriam of ‘Prophet Joseph’ deceased cast members

iFilm website publishes a report of ‘Prophet Joseph’ deceased cast team.

Blockbuster Iranian TV series ‘Prophet Joseph’, currently on iFilm playlist, has eyed the loss of many big names contributing to the series.

The deceased artists graced the TV screen with best performances they could give in this massive film production.

Below is a list of the artists who are no longer among us but their brilliant performances will always be remembered.

Farajollah Salahshour

The veteran director of ‘Prophet Joseph’ passed away in 2016 at the age of 63 due to lung cancer.

‘Prophet Joseph’, which was broadcast from IRIB’s Channel 1 in 2008 and 2009, was Salahshour’s most eminent work.

An actor, screenwriter and film director and producer, he had three notable TV series in his resume. In 1993, he made ‘Job, the Prophet’ on the life of the Prophet Job. Salahshoor wrote and directed the series and also played the lead character as Job.

He made various works in his life time, among which the ones that were based on the stories of the holy Quran such as ‘Prophet Joseph’ and ‘The Men of Angelos’ have been very well received not only in Iran but in the Islamic world as well. Rest in peace.

Abbas Amiri-Moqaddam

Late prolific Amiri played the memorable role of the priest Ankhmahor in the Temple of Amun in the series ‘Prophet Joseph’.

Amiri also appeared in over 20 other films and in TV series. His role in ‘Somewhere Too Far’ by director Khosro Masoumi brought him a nomination for the Crystal Simorgh of supporting actor at the 24th Fajr International Film Festival in 2006.

His last role in a television series was that of Amer bin-Masoud in ‘The Rise of Mokhtar’ (2010-2011).

Amiri-Moqaddam passed away in a traffic accident in 2011.

Mohammad Poursattar

Poursattar was an actor best known for his roles in historical series such as ‘Prophet Joseph’ (2008), ‘Saint Mary’ (2000), ‘The Men of Angelos' (1998) and 'Mokhtarnameh' (2004-2009). 

Poursattar passed away on October 16, 2017 in Tehran.

Nasser Forough

Forough played the role of a temple priest. He passed away at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer.

Reza Aqarabbi

Aqarabbi was also part of this big project, bringing to life the role of the head of temple guards.

He had an early departure at the age of 50 due to heart attack in 2008.
